| Heliconia's debut album, Glad You Were Born, is due for release on Isolation in spring 2006. It features 11 tracks, including work done with producer Pat Collier (Primal Scream, House of Love). Glad You Were Born captures the band's distinctive combination of laidback stoner grooves alternating with sheets of guitar and distortion. The album has already had a great review at shotgunreviews.com. Reviewer Shawn Delaney wrote: "With a dynamic and tasteful mix of neo and classic shoegaze, Heliconia are primed to make a big step into the face of modern music." Before the release of Heliconia's debut album, one track recorded with Pat Collier - Witness - will feature on a three-track CD single being released on Club AC30 early in the new year. Heliconia also feature on a compilation of contemporary artists covering 1980s and 1990s indie classics which was released by Club AC30 in September 2005. The band contribute a corrosive take on the Ride classic Drive Blind to the release, Never Lose That Feeling #1. Heliconia have gigged frequently in London and Brighton in the past couple of years, at venues including The Marquee - where the band headlined, The Comedy, The Water Rats and Freebutt. Many of the gigs in 2004 were played with highly acclaimed German electronic artist Ulrich Schnauss, who been impressed by the band's debut EP Girl I Need You, and was keen to work with Heliconia.
